From this year on, Vivo, the Chinese mobile phone maker will be replaced as IPL’s title sponsor by Indian conglomerate Tata Group. In a meeting on Tuesday 11th January 2022, the cricketing tournament’s governing council took the decision.
IPL chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed the news saying that Tata Group will be the new title sponsor of Indian Premier League. The deal’s financial details have not been announced yet.
Earlier Vivo had a ₹2,200 crore ($29.76 million) sponsorship rights for the title from 2018-2022. But due to 2020s Galwan Valley military face-off, the brand took a break. That year Dream11 became the sponsor.
