HZO: A One-Stop-Shop for Fulfilling All Your Protective Coating Needs

Water, sweat, humidity, dust, and dirt can easily damage sensitive circuitry found in everything from smartphones to cars, water meters to medical devices. With 41.6 billion connected electronic devices to be deployed into new environments by 2025, it’s more critical than ever for companies to protect their products from hazardous conditions.

HZO is a global leader in delivering world-class protective nanocoatings that safeguard electronics from the most demanding corrosive and liquid environments. Based in Morrisville, NC, USA with 15 locations worldwide, the company has created a portfolio of protective coatings known as their Spectrum of Protection™ that includes both thin-film conformal and nano coatings customized to the needs of its customers.

Its thin-film solutions drive real value by helping companies minimize the costs associated with unnecessary repairs or service calls, mitigate the risks related to product failures, and grow sustainable revenue. “Our unique approach has HZO well-positioned for exponential global growth in the years ahead,” says HZO’s team. “At HZO, we bring together people, process, capital equipment, and material science, leveraging an ever-expanding patent portfolio to create unique solutions for our clients, whether it is on-premise or in one of our Centers of Excellence,” the team adds further.

HZO’s global team brings its mission to life through relentless innovation, seamless collaboration, and flawless execution. The company holds itself accountable to the highest performance standards, placing the customer at the heart of everything it does.

A Remarkable Leader

James T Fahey, Ph.D is an industry veteran, having held leadership positions at Dow, DuPont, Rohm & Haas, and IBM. Before his role at HZO as CEO, he was President of DuPont Electronics & Imaging, where he led the integration of Dow Electronic Materials, DuPont Electronics, and Communications, and Dow Corning Electronic Materials, creating a $5B entity with over 6000 employees across 64 global sites, with various international joint ventures.

Since taking the role of Chief Executive Officer at HZO in March 2020, Fahey has worked tirelessly to navigate the business through the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic while diversifying HZO’s technology offerings to better meet the needs of our customers. “While we have always planned for seasonal and cyclical situations, the pandemic has been a unique learning experience for HZO,” says Fahey.

COVID-19 has illustrated that not all services or supply chains are going to perform the same way. This underscores the importance of diversification and understanding of how to meet market needs regardless of the current situation. “We’ve applied what we’ve learned in 2020 to our 2021 plans to optimize our resources, anticipate contingencies, and properly plan for growth,” states James.

Dynamics of HZO

HZO envisions being the one-stop-shop for organizations looking to address their protective coating requirements. This encapsulates applications across industries and markets, including automotive, consumer electronics, industrial, IoT, and medical device. Its future plans also include geographical expansion beyond the fifteen sites in which the business currently operates, including facilities across Asia, North America, and Europe.
