Bord Gais Energy has declared a significant price reduction.
After Yuno Energy and Electric Ireland, this is the third energy provider to declare price reductions in recent weeks.
In just four months, Bord Gais Energy will have lowered prices twice.
With the lowering of 10% on electricity unit rates, 9.5% on gas unit rates, and 8% on standing charges, Bord Gáis Energy will offer the most competitive standard variable dual fuel price in the Irish market as of February 29.
This implies that a household using dual fuel will save roughly €331 annually. Customers who only use electricity will save €190 annually, and those who just use gas would save €141.
The 600,000 residential consumers of the company will automatically receive these price savings, and those who choose to switch to Bord Gáis Energy will also be eligible.
The decreases also apply to any current discounts that a customer may be receiving. Additionally, all Bord Gáis Energy customers have special access to the Bord Gáis Energy Rewards Club, where members receive amazing weekly benefits.
“Today’s announcement marks our second reduction in just four months,” said Bord Gáis Energy Managing Director Dave Kirwan in a statement made today. “This means that Bord Gáis Energy will be #1 in the market for value.” Coupled with the price reduction in November, dual fuel clients will see an annual savings on their bills of over €1,000.
“With this statement, we’re showing that we’re going further than our rivals by being best-in-market on dual fuel, gas, and standing charges on our regular variable tariffs as of February 29. Wholesale energy costs have stabilized despite some volatility persisting, and we are able to pass on today’s savings thanks to our rigorous hedging plan.”While everyone who uses Bord Gáis Energy will be pleased to hear today’s announcement, the company acknowledges that individuals who have been having financial difficulties over the past 24 months have found it especially challenging. Through a number of measures, we have demonstrated and still do our dedication to reducing the financial burden on customers throughout the energy crisis. We strongly advise any customer who is worried about their energy expenses to contact us right away.”
