Apple Inc. plans to add a second advertising slot in its app store search page’s ‘suggested’ section, with the objective of expanding its advertising business. The new advertising slot will be initiated by the end of April. With the assistance of this new slot, advertisers will be able to promote their apps across the whole network, rather than just in response to specific searches.
As per the report, Apple will let the iPhone users to allow various apps to use their date for personalized advertising. This move was not taken kindly by tech rival Facebook Inc and has drawn backlash from the social media giant. Facebook Inc. argues that these changes will hamper the social media company’s advertising business. However, Apple has not immediately responded with a comment.
